The business partners founded Backyard Grannys in 2011 after discovering a strong demand in the market. They started the business with the goal to be the leading granny flat providers in Newcastle. They’ve achieved this goal having built over 500 granny flats since that time. The Newcastle Designer Granny Flat business is a new project built on these solid foundations. It’s mission is to provide deluxe builds for homeowners who want the ultimate in granny flat luxury.
Both directors live their working life by this commitment to providing only the best quality product and service. Their motto is “If it’s not good enough for our own home, then it’s not good enough for anyone else”.
Alex and Mark are proud of the Newcastle Designer Granny Flats brand and are committed to all projects being completed to the highest standards of quality and care with complete client satisfaction at every stage of the design and build.
With more than 17 years’ experience in the industry, Alex has gained an extensive skill set and knowledge base since completing his Bachelor of Construction Management at the University of Newcastle.
Alex feels very strongly about fostering a dynamic and beneficial work culture. Together with his team this positive culture facilitates a shared focus of putting clients first to achieve quality outcomes. In 2014 Alex won the Young Entrepreneur Award with Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards and in 2015 received the Hunter Business Chamber Merit Award.
Mark has developed has developed an enduring reputation as one of the most respected and professional builders in Newcastle, built on over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry delivering quality homes.
Mark brings this knowledge and passion to Newcastle Designer Granny Flats. He knows that one of the most important aspects of the building process is the customer journey. He shares this journey with his clients and prides himself on being friendly, approachable and understanding.
