This seventh and final blog in our series about the construction of the Silverdale 2 bedroom granny flat design demonstrates our attention to detail and pride in superior customer service. While the client for this build is Backyard Grannys Director Alex Mitchell, the final steps in completion are the same as with any client.
While both Alex and fellow Director Mark Neumann were inspecting the site continually over the course of construction and liaised closely with Building Coordinator Jacob Kepreotes, it was time for a formal pre-practical inspection.
Mark has an acute eye for detail and expects that any granny flat is completed to the standard that he would expect of his own home. The pre-practical inspection ensures that the project complies with the relevant Australian Standards and local building codes and if any issues are found they are addressed prior to the final onsite meeting with the client.
Practical Completion is the next step. Mark and Jacob took Alex through his property, examining every room and all the inclusions to ensure everything looked and worked as it should. Satisfied that the project delivered on its brief, the relevant paperwork was signed off ahead of the private certifier issuing the Occupation Certificate and Alex was handed the keys.
With any regular client, this final stage would also involve the client receiving a detailed handbook containing information about their new granny flat including a copy of the plans, engineering, selections, warranties and maintenance information.
The final result is stunning, and we couldn’t be happier with the quality finishes we have achieved in the construction of this contemporary designer granny flat.
The Silverdale is now our flagship Newcastle granny flat display home and open for inspection. It is open every Saturday from 11am – 2pm, come and see the very latest in designer granny flat living.
